TYLER, TX (03/01/2017) — An accident involving a towed vehicle claimed the life of John Turner and injured two others on Wednesday evening.
The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) identified 23-year-old John Turner (of Quitman) as the victim of a two-vehicle crash that occurred on Loop 49 near Highway 64 in Tyler, Texas.
DPS reported that at around 7:30 p.m., a Ford pickup truck hauling a Ford Mustang was traveling southbound on Loop 49, when the Mustang detached from the trailer, traveled into the oncoming lane of traffic, and collided with a northbound 2000 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by Turner.
John Turner was tragically killed in the collision. Turner’s two passengers—27-year-old Corbin Massey (of Mineola) and 21-year-old Martin Bustos (of Lindale)—were taken to East Texas Medical Center (ETMC) for treatment. They have since been released.
An investigation is underway.
