AUSTIN, TX (12/20/2016) — An auto-pedestrian accident in Downtown Austin on Tuesday morning claimed the life of John Martin.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, 46-year-old John Walker Martin (of Elgin) was struck and killed by a car while using the crosswalk at the intersection of East 15th Street and San Jancinto Boulevard (near the Texas Capitol building) in Austin, Texas.
DPS reported that around 10:00 a.m., the driver of a Honda Accord was traveling eastbound on 15th Street when he or she ran a red light and collided with a FedEx van traveling southbound on San Jacinto Boulevard. As a result of the collision, the Honda spun out and struck John Martin, a pedestrian using the crosswalk westbound on 15th Street.
After the incident, Martin was transported to University Medical Center at Brackenridge, where he died from his injuries a short time later.
