LUBBOCK, TX (08/03/2017) — 18-year-old Jonathan Pesqueda was killed and two were hospitalized after a wrong-way driver on South Loop 289 caused a fatal head-on accident early Friday morning.
According to Lubbock Police, the accident occurred in the eastbound lanes of South Loop 289 near Indiana Avenue at about 2:55 p.m. An initial investigation indicates that the driver of a pickup truck traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of South Loop 289 collided head-on with a car driven by 18-year-old Jonathan Pesqueda.
Pesqueda was transported by ground ambulance to University Medical Center Lubbock, but was later pronounced deceased. The 26-year-old male driver of the pickup truck, along with his 22-year-old male passenger, were transported by ground ambulance to Covenant Medical Center for treatment of moderate to serious injuries.
