LIVINGSTON, TX (10/04/2015) — Bicyclist Jose Garcia-Lara was struck and killed by a female motorist on Sunday night.
Livingston police have identified 21 year-old Jose Garcia-Lara as the victim of Sunday night’s fatal bicycle accident in Livingston, Texas.
This accident happened in the 600 block of East Church Street shortly before 8:30 p.m.
According to Livingston Police Lt. Matt Parish, Garcia-Lara was struck by 46 year-old Misty Aguilar, who was attempting to turn into a sub-division.
Garcia-Lara was transported to Conroe Regional Medical Center, where he later died.
“There were no signs of drug or alcohol abuse by the driver,” Parish said. “It looks like she just wasn’t able to see him when she turned. She has been very cooperative with us on the case.”
This fatal wreck remains under investigation.
Was she not able to see a man on the bicycle? Or did she fail to see him? There’s a pretty big distinction there, and when viewing the area on Google StreetView, I wasn’t able to spot any obvious obstructions near connecting streets. For the victim’s sake, I hope a thorough investigation is undertaken in order to determine exactly what lead to this fatality.
