MAXDALE, TX (07/06/2015) — 22-year-old Joshua Moore was critically injured, and one man was killed, after they were ejected from a pickup truck driven by 24-year-old Jarrett Salter.
According to authorities, 22-year-old Joshua Moore was critically injured after he was ejected from the bed of a pickup truck in the 1900 block of Maxdale Road near Killeen, Texas.
Reportedly, Jarrett Matthew Salter, 24, was driving a pickup truck with three passengers: Moore, Taylor Gilmore, 22, and one unidentified male passenger. The four men—who were all active-duty military personnel—were hog hunting early Monday morning at around 3:30 a.m. on private property off Maxdale Road (near the Bell-Burnet county line).
Moore and a male passenger were seated in the bed of the truck when they were thrown from the vehicle. When Salter realized the two men had been ejected, he turned around to search for them.
Bell County Sheriff’s Lt. T.J. Cruz stated that Salter and Gilmore found the two victims, placed them in the bed of the pickup, and Salter was driving the men to Metroplex Hospital in Killeen when the truck was involved in an accident.
The unidentified male passenger died in the wreckage. Moore was transported to Scott and White Hospital in Temple, Texas with critical injuries.
Neither Salter nor Gilmore were injured in the accident.
