SALADO, TX (08/24/2016) — Juan Enriquez-Tovar died in rollover accident early Wednesday morning, which also left seven others injured.
According to authorities, 19-year-old Juan Carlos Enriquez-Tovar was killed in a two-vehicle collision that occurred on FM 2843 near Kuy Kendall Branch Road in Salado, Texas.
Department of Public Safety Sgt. Dave Roberts stated that Enriquez-Tovar was a passenger in a Ford Expedition that was struck by an oncoming Nissan Pathfinder, which police believe drifted into the wrong lane. EMS was called to the scene at around 6:45 a.m.
The impact between the Ford and the Nissan caused the Ford to roll over.
Enriquez-Tovar did not survive the crash. Seven others were also injured in the accident; however, their names have not been released at this time.
“In light of this terrible tragedy, I’d like to take this opportunity to remind everyone that it is state law for all occupants of a motor vehicle to be buckled up while driving (or) traveling in a vehicle in Texas. This includes rear seat passengers,” said Sgt. Roberts.
This crash remains under investigation.
