KENNARD, TX (02/23/2017) — A one-vehicle accident early Thursday morning claimed the life of Keaton Delk and left one other injured.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), 24-year-old Keaton Delk (of Groveton) was killed after a single-vehicle collision on FM 357 about four miles south of Kennard, Texas.
DPS reported that at around 9:15 a.m., 30-year-old Joshua Sylestine (of Livingston) was traveling southbound in a 2011 Freightliner tractor-trailer when he drove off the right side of the road, over-corrected left, and struck a tree on the opposite side of the road.
Both Sylestine and his passenger, Delk, were ejected from the vehicle. They were transported to the East Texas Medical Center (ETMC) in Tyler for treatment. Delk later died from his injuries at around 10:40 a.m. the following day. Sylestine’s current condition is unknown.
This crash remains under investigation.
