HONEY GROVE, TX (01/13/2017) — Lakisha Finney died following a head-on collision on Friday morning.
Police identified 40-year-old Lakisha Finney (of Honey Grove) as the victim of a wrong way accident that occurred on Highway 34, about five miles south of Honey Grove, Texas.
Officials reported that at around 8:30 a.m., 62-year-old Rickey May was traveling on State Highway 34, when for unknown reasons he drove across the center stripe into the oncoming lane of traffic and collided with Finney’s vehicle head-on.
Finney did not survive the collision.
“Lakisha worked at the Honey Grove nursing center and she had a huge impact on the city,” said Fannin County Sheriff Mark Johnson. “She’s a big family name over there and the people there really love her and she was very dedicated to her job and committed to helping the elderly people at the nursing center.”
May was taken to a nearby area hospital for treatment; he later succumbed to his injuries. Authorities are investigating this collision.
