DEL VALLE, TX (01/31/2016) — A fatal rollover collision that took place on Sunday claimed the life of Leandro Aguilar.
The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) identified Leandro Aguilar as the victim of a fatal car accident that occurred along FM 812 in Del Valle, Texas.
DPS reported that at around 11:18 p.m., an eastbound 2013 Chevrolet Silverado attempted to pass an eastbound 2008 Chevrolet Avalanche. Before completing the maneuver (and while still in the opposing lane of traffic) an oncoming westbound 1999 Honda Accord was forced to make a quick evasive maneuver, left the roadway, and rolled over.
Leandro Aguilar, the driver of the Accord, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The two other drivers, who have not yet been identified, were not injured in the wreckage.
Commentary
I would be interested to see what the official investigation uncovers with regard to this accident. There is a sizable no passing zone on that stretch of 812, so I have to wonder if the driver of the Silverado attempted to overtake when it was not allowed. Of course this is only conjecture at this point, and an official investigation is pending.
