Dallas, Texas — Dallas police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a vehicle involved in a hit and run accident on Saturday (10/26/2013) afternoon.
7-year-old Lorenzo Cantu suffered a concussion and some broken toes, but is now out of the hospital following Saturday afternoon’s accident. Police are still seeking the driver of a white or cream-colored extended-cab pickup truck seen on surveillance video pulling a flatbed trailer through the 3100 block of Conroe Street. Video shows the child stepping into the street & getting struck, and then shows the driver continue toward Singleton Boulevard and Sylvan Avenue without stopping.
Lorenzo Cantu’s family, as well as everyone else, is grateful that his injuries aren’t life-threatening — but they also want justice. They are begging the driver to come forward. The driver may not even be aware of the accident, but we won’t know the truth until he or she comes forward and a full investigation is completed.
Dallas police said that the incident is currently under investigation, and that no arrests have been made as of yet. The driver of the pickup truck may potentially face charges of failure to stop & render aid, and abandoning a child. “I hope he’s watching this and he feels that guilt and he turns himself in,” said Victoria Cantu, Lorenzo’s mother.
