This incident has pushed the city of Midland to inform drivers of motorcycle awareness while on the road.
“They want to encourage people to look twice for motorcycles any time you turn,” said Sara Bustilloz, a spokesperson for the city of Midland. “Obviously in this case the driver who collided with the motorcyclist was intoxicated but it even further goes to prove that you’ve got to be on the lookout for motorcyclist.”
As Motorcycle Awareness Month (May) comes to a close, we would like to remind drivers that motorcyclists should always remain at the forefront of your minds while driving. Many motorcyclists lose their lives due to momentary lapses in judgment from other drivers. With additional vigilance and care, we can help reduce the number of motorcycle accidents in our state.
Unfortunately, in this particular case, the driver posed a threat to all drivers on the road since he was allegedly intoxicated. Our thoughts are with the those affected by this tragedy.
