At that moment, a Harley-Davidson motorcycle traveling southbound on Lawrence—driven by Martinez—collided with Pierce’s vehicle.
Martinez did not survive the crash.
This accident remains under investigation.
This accident appears to be a case of failure to yield right-of-way, yet we’re still waiting on police to complete their investigation. Right-of-way accidents are unfortunately quite common for motorcyclists, and just goes to show you how one driver’s mistake can lead to tragedy. If the pickup driver is found to be at-fault, he is likely to face criminal charges for this incident (in addition to a potential wrongful death lawsuit filed by the victim’s family).
We will provide more updates as details become available.
