STEPHENVILLE, TX (06/26/2016) — 26-year-old Lyle Hussong died in a head-on collision that occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning.
According to authorities, Lyle Hussong was killed after a wrong-way driver struck his vehicle along Highway 281 in Stephenville, Texas.
The Texas Highway Patrol reported that at around 2:00 a.m., 21-year-old Alex Sanchez was traveling northbound in a 2014 white Chrysler 300 when he veered into oncoming traffic (not passing) and collided with a 1997 green Ford pickup truck near mile marker 314. The driver of the pickup truck was identified as Lyle Hussong.
According to Sr. Texas DPS Trooper Dub Gillum, Hussong’s pickup was actually on the southbound shoulder when it was struck. The impact caused the pickup truck to roll onto its roof and the Chrysler caught fire.
Both Hussong and Sanchez died at the scene of the accident. Lyle Hussong, who was from Ohio, was reportedly working and living in Stephenville, Texas.
The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is currently investigating this accident.
