ARLINGTON, TX (10/7/2014) — A Tuesday afternoon rear-end car accident on I-20 has left one young man dead, and several others injured.
The fatal accident, which occurred sometime between 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m., was started when a Honda passenger car attempted to merge onto eastbound I-20 from U.S. Highway 287 and crashed into the back of a slow-moving Mazda passenger car in the far right lane of I-20 (right before the Green Oaks Boulevard exit). The Mazda then collided with a Lexus passenger car traveling one lane over. It has been reported that the Mazda was traveling at a slower speed due to a flat tire.
The collision resulted in the death of one man, believed to be in his early 20s, who was riding in the backseat of the Mazda. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. Three other people in the Mazda were also hospitalized. Two small children were transported to Cook Children’s Medical Center hospital with minor injuries, and one adult was also hospitalized for minor injuries. The male driver of the Honda was taken to Medical Center of Arlington to be “checked out.” Neither of the two occupants of the Lexus were reportedly injured.
