AMARILLO, TX (09/20/2017) — An Amarillo man was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries following a rear-end collision near the intersection of 9th Avenue and S Fillmore Street.
Amarillo Police responded to the scene of a motorcycle-vs-car accident Wednesday night at around 9:30 p.m. According to reports, 28-year-old Marc Montoya (of Amarillo) had stopped his 2012 Harley Davidson motorcycle at a red light on Fillmore when his motorcycle was struck from behind by a 1995 Mazda driven by 22-year-old Stephanie Jud Devora-Galindo (also of Amarillo).
Montoya was reportedly not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, and was transported to a local hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries. Devora-Galindo was not injured in the crash.
Authorities believe that speed was the primary factor to the accident. It doesn’t appear the police have filed charges as of yet, but the accident is still under investigation by the APD Traffic Investigation Squad.
