LUBBOCK, TX (08/02/2015) — Authorities have identified 24-year-old Marissa Marroquin as one of the victim’s of Sunday’s fatal, multi-vehicle crash in Lubbock.
According to authorities, 24-year-old Marissa Marroquin was killed on Sunday following a multi-vehicle accident in the 4200 block of East Slaton Highway in Lubbock, Texas.
Lubbock police stated that at around 3:00 a.m., the driver of a Ford F-150 (who is suspected of driving while impaired) was traveling the wrong way in the southbound lanes of East Slaton Highway when it collided with a 2006 Chevrolet Suburban head-on. According to reports, shortly after the initial collision, a 2008 Chevrolet Impala also crashed into the two vehicles.
A total of 7 occupants were seriously injured in the wreckage—2 in the F-150, 2 in the Suburban, and three in the Impala. They were all transported to University Medical Center (UMC) for treatment. Marroquin, who was a passenger in the Suburban, lost her life shortly after being taken to UMC.
The names of the remaining victims have not yet been released.
The Lubbock Police Accident Investigation Team is currently investigating this fatal collision.
