DALLAS, TX (12/19/2014) — Police are looking for the driver involved in an early Friday morning car-vs-pedestrian hit and run accident which claimed the life of 52-year-old Martha Perez.
The hit and run accident occurred at around 6:45 a.m. at the intersection of Preston Road and Alpha Road in far North Dallas. According to authorities, Martha Perez lives on one side of Preston Rd. and was crossing to the other side in order to pick up something from a nearby store. When she did not return, the victim’s boyfriend went outside to check on her. That’s when he found Ms. Perez’ shoe and umbrella in the middle of the street.
Authorities say that Perez was struck by an unknown vehicle traveling northbound on Preston Road, and that the suspect fled from the scene and has not been located. Martha Perez was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
Police say that the vehicle in question is white, has large (20-inch) rims, and dark tint. They say it is possibly either a Mercury Grand Marquis or a Ford Crown Victoria. Police also say the vehicle also has a spare tire (donut) on the rear passenger side, and is expected to have damage to the left hand (driver’s side) front grill and front quarter panel.
