AMARILLO, TX (02/29/2016) — A hit-and-run accident on Monday claimed the life of Melchisedec Jackson, and the driver who fled is now in custody.
Amarillo police identified 69-year-old Melchisedec Jackson as the victim of a fatal, two-vehicle car accident that occurred at the intersection of NW 12th Avenue and N. Adams Street in Amarillo, Texas.
Officials reported that 44-year-old Sean Delroy Rawlins ran a stop sign and crashed into Jackson’s vehicle. Rawlins continued without stopping, and had a second collision with a parked car before coming to rest in the front yard of a home along Adams Street.
Melchisedec Jackson was pronounced deceased at the scene of the accident.
Rawlins attempted to flee on foot, but was found about two blocks away from the scene of the accident and arrested. Rawlins was transported to the Potter County Detention Center and charged with causing an accident involving death as well as manslaughter.
This accident remains under investigation.
