PLANO, TX (12/27/2016) — An accident involving an 18-wheeler left Melody Magana hospitalized on Tuesday morning.
According to Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Troopers, 24-year-old Melody Magana (of Frisco) sustained injuries following a multi-vehicle collision that occurred on the Sam Rayburn Tollway (near Coit Road) in Plano, Texas.
DPS reported that at around 9:30 a.m., Magana was traveling southbound on the SRT in a street sweeper at a low speed, while sweeping the right shoulder of the highway. Approximately 1,000 feet behind her vehicle were two North Texas Tollway Authority (NTTA) trucks, signaling a convoy ahead.
Officials stated that 38-year-old Deric Coleman was also traveling southbound on the tollway in an 18-wheeler, when for unknown reasons, he collided with one of the NTTA trucks and the street sweeper occupied by Melody Magana.
The sweeper overturned and came to rest on the right median. Both Magana and Coleman were transported to Medical Center of Plano for treatment.
The DPS is investigating this wreck.
