Authorities have identified 60-year-old Michael Keith Lockett and 66-year-old Francine Wimbush as the victims of a fatal car accident that occurred in the 5400 block of Trimmier Road at Draco Street in Killeen, Texas.
Police reported that at around a 12:15 p.m. on Friday afternoon, a Chevrolet Camaro and a Dodge Charger were racing when the Camaro broadsided a Ford Taurus, driven by Lockett.
Lockett was attempting to turn left onto Nichols Circle at the time of the wreck.
The impact caused the Taurus to roll onto its side against a fence. Both Lockett and Winbush, his passenger, were killed due to blunt force injuries.
The four occupants of the Camaro—who are all suspected to be teenagers, but have not been identified—were taken to a nearby area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police stated.
Commentary
Teenage drivers are the most dangerous on roadways and tend to cause the most accidents due to their lack of driving experience. Parents of teen drivers need to be extra vigilant of their driving habits and discourage them from dangerous activities. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims of this tragic accident.
