AMARILLO, TX (06/27/2015) — 37-year-old Christopher Keith Cummins was seriously injured after he was struck by a car and thrown from his motorcycle.
Amarillo police have confirmed that 37-year-old Christopher Keith Cummins was injured after his motorcycle was rear-ended in the 4100 block of Amarillo Boulevard in Amarillo, Texas early Saturday morning.
According to authorities, at around 2:00 a.m., an officer saw a silver 2007 Kia Optima (driven by 43-year-old Omar Arturo Soto Nevarez) traveling eastbound on E. Amarillo Boulevard. Stuck to the front bumper of the Optima was a 2005 Vento Thunder motorcycle. Thankfully, the officer stopped the fleeing driver and called for another officer to locate the driver of the motorcycle.
Christopher Cummins stated to the police that he was traveling eastbound when he was rear-ended and ejected from his motorcycle. Cummins was taken to a nearby area hospital for treatment of serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
Nevarez was arrested and booked in the Potter County Detention Center for intoxicated assault. Speed and alcohol are both possible factors in this collision.
The Traffic Investigation Squad of the Amarillo Police Department is currently investigating this incident.
