WICHITA FALLS, TX (08/13/2015) – Motorcyclist Waylon Buckingham was seriously injured after he was struck by a pickup truck on Thursday afternoon.
Officer Brandi Banda, spokesperson for Wichita Falls Police, stated that 22-year-old Waylon Farrell Buckingham was seriously injured after his motorcycle was struck at the intersection of Fairway Boulevard and Wynnwood Drive/ Pasadena Avenue in Wichita Falls, Texas on Thursday afternoon.
According to authorities, the driver of a Chevrolet Silverado was stopped on Wynnwood Drive at the Fairway Blvd stop sign waiting to cross just before 1:00 p.m. As the driver pulled across Fairway, Waylon Buckingham’s motorcycle collided with the pickup truck. The driver says that he didn’t see Buckingham’s motorcycle coming down Fairway due to a city bus obstructing his view.
Buckingham, who was not wearing a helmet at the time, was transported to United Regional Hospital by ground ambulance and later flown to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas. His current condition is unknown.
Police state that the truck driver could be cited for his role in the crash.
