KYLE, TX (08/14/2015) – 49-year-old James Grear was killed, and a 37-year-old woman was injured, after a car-vs-motorcycle crash Friday morning.
According to Kyle police, 49-year-old James Grear, of Gibson County, Tennessee, was killed, and 37-year-old Kelly Watson was injured, following a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 35 near Center Street in Kyle, Texas on Friday morning.
Authorities stated that at around 10:45 a.m., both Watson and Grear were traveling southbound on I-35 when Watson either changed lanes or accidentally veered into Grear’s motorcycle, causing him to lose control of his BMW K1600 bike.
“He veered left and struck the concrete divider and was ejected from his motorcycle and ended up landing in the northbound lanes of IH-35,” explains Kyle Police Chief Jeff Barnett.
After striking the motorcyclist, Watson also struck a concrete wall. She was transported to a nearby hospital with minor injuries.
Grear was pronounced dead at the scene.
Barnett stated that the crash remains under investigation, and the agency plans on doing a reconstruction of the crash next week.
