DALLAS, TX (7/16/2014) — 27-year-old Kristopher Wayne Stroman was killed in a hit and run accident when his motorcycle collided with a van on Wednesday afternoon at around 3:30 p.m. Dallas police are still searching for the other driver.
According to Dallas police, Kris Stroman was riding his Yamaha motorcycle eastbound on Walnut Hill Lane toward the intersection of Brockbank Drive. The driver of the van was headed westbound on the same street and reportedly turned south onto Brockbank, cutting off the motorcyclist. One witness told police that Stroman tried to slide underneath just before impact, but was struck head-on and thrown from the bike into the center of the intersection.
Witnesses reported that the driver of the van then fled the scene and turned into an apartment complex on Rockbank Drive about 100 yards away from the accident. Police investigated and discovered the abandoned van in the parking lot with its door still open, but no suspect was located. Police listed the suspect’s vehicle as a 2001 Chevy van, but an officer on scene reported that the vehicle towed away was of a different make and model. Police say it will be processed for fingerprints and other evidence.
Kristopher Stroman, who was wearing a helmet, was transported to Parkland Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
