MOUNT PLEASANT, TX (08/10/2015) — 30-year-old Jose Lara was critically injured after a two-vehicle wreck on Monday morning.
According to Mount Pleasant Police Chief Wayne Isbell, Jose Lara, 30, was critically injured on Monday morning following a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Highway 271 and Highway 67 in Mount Pleasant, Texas.
Authorities state that at around 8:05 a.m., 31-year-old Jonathan Cunningham was traveling northbound on Highway 271 in a Nissan pickup truck, when he allegedly ran a red light at Highway 67 and struck Lara’s westbound pickup truck (also a Nissan).
Lara was transported to Titus Regional Medical Center, then flown to Tyler, Texas in critical condition.
According to Mount Pleasant police, Cunningham was not injured; however, he was cited for running a red light, and additional charges may be filed against him.
