EL PASO, TX (08/26/2015) — Two women were injured, one of which remains critical, after a multi-vehicle crash early Wednesday morning.
According to authorities, a multi-vehicle car accident along Loop 375 at exit 40 (Montwood Drive) left a 23-year-old woman in critical condition on Wednesday morning in El Paso, Texas.
El Paso police reported that at around 7:30 a.m., traffic had slowed down due to a high volume of vehicles on the roadway. A 2014 Ford F-350 pickup truck, driven by 54-year-old Julian Carrizal, failed to control his speed and rear-ended a 2006 Hyundai Elantra driven by a 23-year-old woman who has not yet been identified.
After the initial impact, two more vehicles became involved in the accident: a Nissan Sentra, driven by Ashley Chavez, and a fourth vehicle, driven by Guadalupe Asencio.
The driver of the Elantra was transported to the hospital in critical condition. According to investigators, Chavez suffered non-life-threatening injuries and Asencio was uninjured.
This crash remains under investigation. No charges have been filed at this time.
