A two-vehicle crash on US 96 and County Road 4356 leaves one person dead.
Just before 6 p.m., Tuesday, the Department of Public Safety was called to County Road 4356 and US 96 where they found an accident involving a Peterbuilt tractor trailer and a car. Inital investigation reveals that the car had stopped, waiting to turn onto CR 4356 when the tractor tralier, drivin by 51-year-old, Derek Lampkin, who failed to stop, clammed into it. The semi then overturned.
The driver of the car, Magdiel Cruz, 38, of Teneha, was not injured. A 14-year-old passenger in the back of the car was taken to a hospital in Nacogdoches with serious injuries and Natibida Ramirez, 41, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Lampkin was transported to the hospital, treated, and released.
