DENTON, TX (07/03/2016) — Officer Jim Terry remains hospitalized following a motorcycle accident that occurred on Sunday.
According to the Denton County Sheriff’s Office, Officer Jim Terry remains in critical condition after his motorcycle was struck by a drunk driver in Denton, Texas.
Authorities reported that Terry was riding his motorcycle to work when 42-year-old Oscar Salmaron struck the bike, causing Terry to suffer multiple broken bones and extensive injuries that have already required at least one surgery.
“Officer Terry is a veteran and a Brother in Blue,” the GoFundMe page states. “He has served our country and community, now its our turn to support him in this time of need.”
Salmaron, who had already failed to stop following previous accident, fled the scene. He was later arrested and charged with intoxication assault, along with numerous other charges. His bail is currently at $35,000.
Commentary
The crash has left Officer Terry with multiple broken bones and extensive injuries. A spokesperson for the sheriff’s department said that Terry’s first surgery went well, and that he is expected to undergo at least two more surgeries later this week.
