BACLIFF, TX (07/17/2016) — 4-year-old Omar Hernandez died Sunday evening after he was struck by an intoxicated motorcyclist.
The Galveston County Sheriff’s Office identified 4-year-old Omar Hernandez as the victim of a fatal motorcycle accident that happened in the 4300 block of 10th Street in Bacliff, Texas.
According to authorities, at around 7:30 p.m., 37-year-old Justin James Forsyth (of Friendswood) was riding a motorcycle the wrong way down 10th Street when he struck Hernandez and dragged him approximately 15 feet before finally coming to a stop.
“He said he didn’t see the child,” Capt. Mike Benavides of the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office said.
The child was rushed to Clear Lake Regional Hospital, where he later died from a severe head injury.
A blood sample indicated that Forsyth’s blood alcohol content was 0.26%, which is over three times the legal limit. He has been arrested and charged with intoxication manslaughter.
Commentary
