CEDAR CREEK, TX (01/02/2017) — A wrong way accident on Monday afternoon left one dead and four others possibly injured.
The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) reported that at around 12:45 p.m., 30-year-old Heather Maye Potts (of Paige) was traveling southbound on N. Pope Bend Road in Bastrop County, Texas, when she failed to give half the roadway to a vehicle heading north, causing a two-car accident.
Potts was transported to University Medical Center at Brackenridge, where she later died. The accident also involved four occupants of the second vehicle, although officials did not indicate whether or not they suffered injuries. The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) identified the four additional occupants as:
- 32-year-old David Martinez Gomez (of Del Valle)
- 21-year-old Alejandro Martinez Parras (of Austin)
- 40-year-old Francisco Javier Martinez (of Bastrop)
- An unnamed minor child
An investigation is currently underway.
