DALLAS, TX (03/12/2017) — Dallas police have arrested a 43-year-old man for intoxication manslaughter following a fatal accident in Red Bird on Sunday afternoon.
According to Dallas Police, a Chevy Equinox traveling eastbound along W. Camp Wisdom Road was struck as the driver attempted to make a left turn onto S. Hampton Road at about 2:30 p.m. Police say that the yet-to-be-named 43-year-old’s Dodge Charger was traveling westbound on W. Camp Wisdom Road when he “entered the intersection at a high rate of speed” and struck the Equinox on the right side, flipping it onto its roof.
18-year-old Patrick Henry, a passenger in the Equinox, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The 25-year-old driver of the Equinox was taken to Methodist Dallas Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. A 10-year-old passenger of the Dodge Charger was taken to Children’s Medical Center of Dallas for treatment of a broken arm and possible internal injuries.
According to witness reports, the driver of the Dodge Charger appeared to be drunk after exiting his vehicle, and police report that the man was handcuffed after starting to fight with Dallas Fire-Rescue officials on scene.
The driver of the Dodge Charger was taken to Methodist Dallas Medical Center with undisclosed injuries, and police say he will be charged with one count of intoxication manslaughter and two counts of intoxication assault.
