Dallas, Texas — 51-year-old Paul Scully, from Euless, was killed in an early Sunday morning (11/24/2013) hit and run accident, while attempting to cross Harry Hines Boulevard.
According to Dallas police, there were two cars involved in the pedestrian-vs-car accident at 6600 Harry Hines Blvd. One car (which appears to be a 90s-era Mercedes) was in the middle lane, and swerved to the left to avoid hitting the pedestrian. The car ended up clipping the left side of the victim, and then colliding with the vehicle to their left. The driver who hit the pedestrian stopped the car, but fled the scene on foot without stopping to render aid. The 2nd vehicle continued to drive away and also fled the scene.
Paul Scully was pronounced dead at the scene at about 2:30 a.m. Police believe they’ve located both vehicles involved, but are still looking for the suspects.
How someone can flee the scene without rendering aid baffles me. I can’t imagine how someone (and at least TWO people in this case) would think to run away after striking a pedestrian with their car. One obvious possibility is that the drivers were both intoxicated at the time. This was late Saturday night, and immediately after the bars closed.
I wish the police luck in finding these individuals, and if anyone has any information regarding the accident, we ask that you call Dallas police at 214-671-3001 or leave a comment on this page.
