LAREDO, TX (03/02/2016) — Paula Escalera and Ernest Hale were both left with serious injuries following a Wednesday morning car accident.
According to the Laredo Police Department (LPD), Paula Escalera was seriously injured when an off-duty sheriff’s deputy broadsided her vehicle at the intersection of Santa Ursula Avenue and Scott Street in San Antonio, Texas.
The LPD reported that at around 7:00 a.m., Deputy Ernest J. Hale was traveling southbound along Santa Ursula in a 2007 silver Jeep Patriot when he allegedly ran a red light and broadsided Escalera’s 2002 tan Ford Crown Victoria, which was traveling westbound on Scott Street.
Escalera and Hale were both transported to Laredo Medical Center. Escalera remained there for treatment, however, Hale was later taken to San Antonio Military Medical Center.
The LPD is currently investigating this wreck.
