Bus Accident In Downtown Dallas Leaves One Dead
A passenger aboard Dallas, TX’s DART public transportation system stepped off a bus and was struck and killed by another bus while trying to cross the street. As Fox News reports, the victim’s bus had pulled up to the CBD West Transfer Center – near the West End. A popular hub of traffic – from buses to light rail – CBD can be chaotic at times. Passengers running too and fro, buses coming and going.
It’s unclear at this time whether driver error or pedestrian inattention was directly responsible for this accident. Jeff Rasansky, a bus accident lawyer in Dallas, is well aware that usually a mixture of both is present in pedestrian accidents. He encourages drivers to be constantly aware of their surroundings.
If you have ever visited the West End transit location – by car or foot – you know how chaotic it can be. Here are some tips for safe driving:
- Watch the crossing at Lamar and Pacific. Commuters regularly dart out into the street trying to catch the train at West End Station.
- Be on the lookout for buses turning off Lamar onto San Jacinto. If you are heading south on Lamar, you are liable to rear-end them when they stop suddenly. If heading north, give south bound buses space to turn in.
- As an alternate northbound route, consider taking Field Street to Woodall Rodgers. There tends to be less pedestrian traffic and DART related congestion.
Regardless how you commute – car, truck, bus, or on foot – be safe out there!
