DALLAS, TX (05/07/2017) — 23-year-old Promise Hamilton and her boyfriend, 26-year-old Luis Solano, were tragically killed in a car accident involving a drunk driver early Sunday morning.
UPDATE 05/10/2017: 26-year-old Moses Mwangi Mwangi has been arrested on two counts of intoxication manslaughter. He is being held in the Collin County jail with bond set at $500,000.
According to reports, the collision occurred at around 4:30 a.m. early Sunday morning on Frankford Road at the intesection of the Dallas North Tollway; about a mile from their home.
Luis Solano and Promise Hamilton were traveling northbound on Dallas Parkway (frontage road for the Dallas North Tollway), and were turning westbound onto Frankford Road when their vehicle was struck by a male driver traveling eastbound on Frankford at a high rate of speed. As a result of the initial collision, the victim’s car careened into a pole and one of the vehicles caught fire. Police say the drunk driver caused the accident when he blew through a red light.
23-year-old Promise Hamilton and 26-year-old Luis Solano were both pronounced deceased at the scene by Dallas Fire-Rescue.
The suspected drunk driver is currently hospitalized in critical condition, and has already been charged with two counts of intoxication manslaughter.
It was reported that that the couple was on their way to DFW International Airport for a trip to France, and were on their way to pick up relatives when the crash occurred.
A joint vigil will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Mimosa Lane Baptist Church in Mesquite on Thursday. Hamilton’s service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday at the Dr Pepper Starcenter in Frisco.
