LUFKIN, TX (01/12/2016) — Two people, Rhonda Brown and Jonathan McBride, were killed on Tuesday after a head-on collision; passenger Blake Brown also injured in the accident.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), 49-year-old Rhonda Taylor Brown and 22-year-old Jonathan Edward McBride both died as a result of a head-on collision that happened along U.S. Highway 69 in Lufkin, Texas.
The DPS stated that shortly before 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, McBride was traveling northbound in a 1998 Chevrolet pickup truck when he crossed into southbound traffic and struck a 2014 Buick Encore, driven by Brown, head-on.
Brown, and her 13-year-old son Blake, were both taken to CHI St. Luke’s Health Memorial for treatment. Rhonda Brown succumbed to her injuries a short time after arriving at the hospital.
Blake Brown was injured in the wreckage and remains hospitalized, however his current condition is unknown.
McBride was transported to Woodland Heights Medical Center, where he later died from injuries sustained in the collision.
An investigation of this fatal accident is ongoing.
