LUFKIN, TX (08/06/2016) — Motorcyclist Robert Melton lost his life on Sunday after another driver failed to yield right of way.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), 58-year-old Robert Lee Melton (of New Caney) died in a car wreck along Highway 69 near Chimney Rock Street in Lufkin, Texas.
The DPS reported that at around 3:00 p.m., Melton was traveling northbound on a 2014 Harley Davidson motorcycle when 42-year-old Felicia Lenore Brown failed to yield at a stop sign at Chimney Rock. The two vehicles collided as Brown pulled onto Highway 69.
Melton, who was wearing a helmet, was transported to a nearby hospital where he later died.
This accident remains under investigation.
