Denton, Texas — 20-year-old Robert Virgil Owen III, a University of North Texas student, was killed in a single-vehicle rollover accident Thursday afternoon (11/28/2013) on Interstate 35.
According to Denton police, Robert Owen was driving a Chevrolet HHR crossover SUV when it collided with a highway sign in the 2800 block of I-35 (just south of Oak Street) at about 2:35 p.m. His vehicle then reportedly rolled over into the northbound lanes of Interstate 35, throwing Mr. Owen from the vehicle.
Robert Owen was taken by ambulance to Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Denton, but was pronounced dead at around 3:10 p.m. The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
