It is a very sad day for the MISD family.
Mesquite Independent School District’s Facebook page captured the tragedy of Saturday’s accident that took the life of a husband, wife, and their one-year-old son.
James and Leah Eason, both educators in MISD, were travelling east along I-30 Saturday when they rear ended a stopped 18-wheeler. Leah and one of the couple’s toddlers died at the scene; James passed away at Titus Regional Medical Center in Mount Pleasant. The Eason’s other son, a three-year-old boy, survived and is recovering at Children’s Medical Center.
A spokesman said that the 18 wheeler had stopped for “traffic reasons.” DPS officials are still trying to determine what the specific reasons are, and the accident remains under investigation.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the surviving Eason child, the extended family and all the friends and coworkers left behind.
