PLAINVIEW, TX (09/02/2015) — A single vehicle, rollover car accident injured Dionisio Bosque Jr., and claimed the life of Ernesto Contreras-Esquivel, on Wednesday afternoon.
The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) has reported that 34-year-old Dionisio Bosque Jr. was injured, and 51-year-old Ernesto Contreras-Esquivel was killed, after a single crash along Highway 70 (Olton Road) on Wednesday afternoon in Plainview, Texas.
According to DPS, at around 4:20 p.m., Contreras-Esquivel was traveling eastbound on Highway 70 in a pickup truck when his rear, right tire blew, which caused the vehicle to drift to the south side of the highway.
Contreras-Esquivel over-corrected his vehicle and crossed the westbound lane into a barrow ditch. The pickup truck rolled once and came to a stop on the driver’s side.
A statement from the DPS reported that neither Contreras-Esquivel nor Bosque were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash. Contreras-Esquivel was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene.
Bosque, Contreras-Esquivel’s passenger, was transported to Covenant Hospital in Plainview, Texas. He was later transferred to University Medical Center (UMC) in Lubbock, Texas via air ambulance.
UMC spokesperson Eric Finley stated that Bosque has since been treated and released.
