** ORIGINAL POST **
27-year-old Sam Torres, a popular teacher at Trophy Club’s Beck Elementary, died Monday morning when his motorcycle struck an 18-wheeler.
Sam, an accomplished young man, had immigrated from Mexico and put himself through college. His resolve and perseverance through those difficult times has been an inspiration to his coworkers throughout Northwest school district. He had an outgoing and friendly personality that made him popular. Friends told WFAA news Sam “could make anyone smile, and he made instant connections with eight-year-olds or 80-year-olds.”
While the cause of the motorcycle accident is still being determined, police report that the fatal accident occurred just after 6 am Monday on Highway 183. Sam’s motorcycle hit an 18-wheeler near the off ramp to Highway 121 in the middle of a construction zone.
Sam’s wife of 10 months, Shelly, is being supported with the love and prayers of family and friends.
RIP, Sam – your impact on the students of Beck Elementary and the community at large will not be soon forgotten.
