GEORGETOWN, TX (09/04/2016) — Sebastian Sample and Kaylee Platz-Panico died following a motorcycle accident on Sunday night.
According to authorities, 24-year-old Sebastian Michael Sample and 23-year-old Kaylee Caroline Platz-Panico were killed in a motorcycle crash that occurred at the intersection of FM 2243 and Escalera Parkway in Georgetown, Texas.
The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) reported that at around 10:43 p.m., Sample was traveling westbound on FM 2243 (approaching Escalera Parkway) when his Harley-Davidson motorcycle was struck by an SUV.
Both Sample and his passenger, Platz-Panico, died in the wreckage.
This accident remains under investigation.
Commentary
The driver of the SUV told police that they saw the motorcycle approaching the intersection, but believed they had sufficient time to cross the intersection without causing a collision. That driver failed his or her responsibility as driver by not gauging the situation properly. For that, he or she may face criminal charges for this incident (in addition to any civil lawsuits filed by the victims’ families).
