FORT WORTH, TX (12/06/2016) — An 18-wheeler wreck on Tuesday morning led to a second collision which claimed the life of Stephen Dean.
Authorities have confirmed that 46-year-old Stephen Dean (of Fort Worth) was killed in a car accident on Interstate 35W (just south of 28th Street) in Fort Worth, Texas.
Fort Worth police reported that at around noon, the driver of an 18-wheeler was traveling northbound on the highway when he or she struck a concrete barrier, blocking a portion of the southbound lanes.
Dean was traveling southbound on I-35W in a black SUV and struck the same barrier, which caused the vehicle to become airborne and land 100 feet below the highway in a muddy area.
“The victim inside the [SUV] did require extrication by the Fort Worth Fire Department,” MedStar spokesperson Matt Zavadsky.
Officials stated that Dean was rushed to John Peter Smith Hospital; however, he succumbed to his injuries hours later.
An investigation is pending.
