Yesterday morning around 1:30 am 18-year-old Cristian Leos was speeding along 114 going the wrong way. The police received several different calls reporting the white sedan’s dangerous wrong-way course in the westbound lanes of the highway. The police attempted to communicate with Leos, but rather than slow down the teen driver sped up until he was going more than 100 miles per hour. He lost control of the vehicle and flew into the highway median. After colliding with the barrier the sedan flipped over and landed on its roof.
Leos was traveling with a friend in the passenger’s seat whose name has not yet been released. The passenger in the car died on impact. Leos was rushed from the scene of the accident by helicopter to JPS in Fort Worth. His injuries were not reported as serious. The police believe that alcohol was a factor in the driver’s reckless behavior. After being treated for his injuries he was taken into custody in Keller, Texas and is being charged with intoxication manslaughter.
