An illegal street race has left one dead and several hospitalized.

9 pm last night two drivers were racing along Northwest Highway at speeds nearing 100 miles per hour. A single puddle in the road near Shady Brook was enough for one of the speeding cars to lose control. The BMW jumped a median and struck four other vehicles before catching on fire. One person in the BMW, believed to be the driver, was dead at the scene. Of the four vehicles the vehicle hit, one driver was unable to regain control before another collision with a fifth vehicle.
