FORT WORTH, TX (07/12/2015) — A 15-year-old teen mom was killed, and two others were injured, following a two-vehicle crash on Sunday night.
UPDATE: The 15-year-old female victim has been identified as Sarah Fortenberry.
According to MedStar, an accident at the intersection of Jacksboro Highway and Nine Mile Bridge Road in Fort Worth, Texas claimed the life of a 15-year-old teen mother on Sunday night.
Cpl. Tracey Knight, a Fort Worth police spokeswoman, stated that around 7:20 p.m. a black Honda—driven by 18-year-old Hayden Garcia—was traveling through the intersection when it was struck on the passenger’s side by a pickup truck hauling a trailer; one the vehicles presumably ran a red light.
The impact pushed the Honda into a Chevrolet Avalanche.
MedStar spokesman Matt Zavadsky stated that the 15-year-old girl, Sarah Fortenberry, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The girl’s baby and Hayden Garcia (who was the 15-year-old’s fiancé and the baby’s father) were both hospitalized for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Investigators are still trying to determine who is at fault for this fatal crash. No other injuries have been reported.
