On Friday afternoon, 17-year-old Ivan Torres was racing along Mitchell Boulevard in Fort Worth going the wrong direction when his gray pickup collided head-on with a maroon Chevy pickup. Torres was driving with 15-year-old Jeanette Lopez and teen Bernice Lerma.
Lopez lost her life at the scene of the crash, and driver Torres died Saturday morning after succumbing his injuries. The third passenger, Bernice was in critical condition after the accident. Unfortunately the Trimble Tech High Schoolers were not the only ones hurt, the driver and passengers of the maroon pickup, including three young children, were also seriously injured.

The police are still investigating the accident and have yet to officially determine whether or not alcohol was a factor. While police continue to investigate, mourners are gathered yesterday to honor Jeanette Lopez’s memory.
