Colleyville, Texas — A man and his granddaughter were injured following a Wednesday night (01/01/2014) car accident that sent a GMC Yukon through the side of Lone Star Collision.
Police say that on Wednesday evening, a white GMC Yukon struck a sedan in the 6800 block of Colleyville Blvd, then crashed into the Lone Star Collision repair building – landing upside down. Police believe both alcohol and speed played a factor in the accident.
While the photo above has been making rounds on the internet as a bit of ironic humor, we must remember that this is not a joke. This collision sent a grandfather and his granddaughter to the hospital. Colleyville Police Captain Robert Hinton said that “had somebody been in the backseat, they would not have survived. There was very little left of the car.”
The yet-to-be named victims were transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the GMC Yukon was arrested at the scene (likely for DWI or intoxication assault). While the name of the accused has not been released, FOX4 reports that sources tell them that the suspect has prior arrests for DWI and at least one DWI conviction.
