Two men are in the hospital after a pickup struck a work trailer in Irving.
A city of Irving employee and another man were retrieving traffic cones along the 4900 block of O’Conner Road. Around midnight, a pickup truck heading south on O’Conner struck the trailer the city worker was pulling. Both the trailer and the pickup flipped. The Irving employee, who was standing next to the trailer at the time of the accident, broke his arm when the trailer’s contents spilled onto him. The driver of the pickup was ensnared in the wreckage of the truck and had to be freed by emergency workers. Both men are recovering in the hospital. As of this morning, it’s still not known whether alcohol or other substances played a role in accident.
This accident serves as a reminder to be on the watch for construction crews at all hours of the day. Earlier this year, a Parker County constable was critically injured when a passing vehicle struck him as he directed traffic through an Irving construction zone. The auto accident attorneys and investigators at Jeff Rasansky’s office spend quite a bit of time driving through the west DFW metroplex and know first-hand that the constantly changing landscape of construction equipment can make it difficult to navigate. Take care and drive safely!
