ODESSA, TX (08/08/2015) – An Odessa crash killed two people, and injured four others, Saturday night on Highway 191 at East Loop 338.
According to Odessa Police, a fatal crash at the intersection of Highway 191 and East Loop 338 claimed the lives of Fernando Hinojosa, 34, and Orlando Idrogo, 40, on Saturday night in Odessa, Texas. The collision also injured four others: Tayler Holman, 24, Terry Cobos, 18, Jesse Castro, 36, and Mundo Cerda, 32.
Odessa Police stated that at around 11:00 p.m., the driver of a white Dodge Ram ran a red light while crossing East Loop 338 and struck a 2008 GMC Sierra. The initial impact caused the Dodge Ram to also hit a telephone pole.
According to authorities, two occupants of the Dodge Ram, Hinojosa and Idrogo, were killed in the wreckage. Two others in the Dodge Ram, Castro and Cerda, were taken to Medical Center Hospital, and are listed in critical condition.
The two occupants of the GMC Sierra, Holman and Cobos, were also transported to Medical Center Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police believe that speed may have been a factor, and the accident remains under investigation.
